Coaching is an investment in oneself and/or one’s organization.  It takes time and money but can actually save time and money in the long run. 

With assessments, coaching, and resources, one can possibly save a year of college education from being undecided in a career/major or enable one to find a job sooner. Thus the return on one’s investment can be the money saved or earned, plus the valuable skills learned through the process.
